Al Casey played a Viking II in the orchestra and was asked by producer Bones Howe if Elvis could borrow the guitar for the appearance.

Also the original Hagström production files show that the guitar was manufactured on March 1, 1968 and shipped to Hagström´s US distributor Unicord on March 26, 1969. The same records also show that it was black and coincident or not- the 50 guitars prior and post to the shipping of this single guitar, were shipped to Canada. Elvis played the “Hagström” guitar on the TV show “Comeback Special 1968” (for “Trouble” and “Guitar Man”). His jumpsuit From the stage of the Hilton Hotel, Elvis wore this jumpsuit on stage in Las Vegas for his concerts at the “Hilton” from August 4th to September 4th, 1972 and from January 26th till February 23rd, 1973.
Hagstrom took advantage of this by using pictures from the special for their ads until they were more-or-less issued a cease and desist by Elvis’s manager. In 1972, the Viking I N was launched to replace the original Viking.
